Around 25% of data is digital in this world in 2000 and the rest was on cassettes, film and on paper. Over 1300 Exabytes of data is estimated to exist globally and 90% of it is unstructured and just 2% is non-digital.

More than 24 Petabytes of information is processed daily by Google. Facebook, that had no existence earlier 10 years, holds up to 10 million photos every hour these days. In YouTube, videos with one hour of length is uploaded every second, and over 3 billion ‘Likes’ are made every day and over 400 million tweets are made every day. Over 2.5 Exabytes of information is getting made daily and it is doubling monthly. All these things are creating data explosion.

Handling big data is a big task; there has been buzz about this in the analytics industry recently. Everyone big and eminent in the field is talking about managing this in a comprehensive way. But do we know what big data analytics is?

Huge amount of unstructured and structured data is being generated every day. This data sometimes so big and so fast that it becomes difficult to collect, organize and analyze it for the benefit of the organization. Big data analysts come to recue in such situations.
